About This Spot

Stepping into Clooney’s Pub is like slipping into a well-worn story that locals know by heart—a warm, slightly weathered refuge where time moves to its own steady rhythm. Nestled in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District, this spot carries the quiet charm of a neighborhood staple, where the early risers and late-night regulars meet over familiar drinks and shared moments.

The atmosphere here is unpretentious and inviting, marked by an easygoing pace that lets you settle in without rush. One pool table draws a friendly crowd, and an old jukebox spins a mix that feels more personal than curated, often setting the soundtrack for introductions, good-natured challenges, and laughter. There’s a gentle hum of connection in the air, a reminder that Clooney’s isn’t about sophistication, but about genuine company and simple pleasures.

With a well-thumbed cocktail menu and a selection of beers poured cold and generous, the drinks here become part of the experience rather than the main event. Whether it’s a sharp whiskey poured deep or a lively, spicy michelada to awaken the senses, the offerings always carry a sense of familiarity, meant to complement conversations rather than compete for attention. Small bites and sandwiches add a comforting layer, perfect for nibbling as stories unfold and time stretches.

At Clooney’s, the bartenders are steady anchors—approachable guides in this casual sanctuary, known to know their regulars by name while welcoming newcomers with the same warmth. The cash-only policy and no-frills vibe remind you that this is a place preserved in a slice of authenticity, where the imperfections are part of the charm and the spirit of community reigns.

In every corner, from the dog comfortably claiming their own chair to the familiar faces lingering in the morning light, Clooney’s feels less like a pub and more like an ongoing gathering—a spot where the city’s pulse slows just enough to be felt in full.

This is where the locals finishing a late shift come for an adult beverage in the morning (the bar opens at 6am) and locals drop in to see friends. The bartenders are awesome and everyone is friendly to an outsider that walks in. I especially love that it opens at 6am and it's a drink I'm looking for in the morning hours.

It’s a local dive bar. Friendly people, friendly bartenders. But again: dive bar, sometimes there’s drunk annoying people; act nice you’ll be treated nice, act rude and you’ll get the same. Cash only.

This place is an example of preservation through neglect. It’s perfect. One pool table where regulars hustle new comers, one modern jukebox where the most played song is WAR’s Don’t Let No One Get You Down, one old gentle dog with her own chair, and well whiskey is $5 and they pour DEEP. Don’t forget to tip the bartender! Whenever I’m in the city best believe I’m having a good time at Clooney’s

My coworkers & I went about a month ago. Best little dive bar ever. Patrons were so friendly. $7 margaritas, good food, great juke box, lots of music to choose from. The only downside is, it's cash only!
